for better or for worse (m)

28 years ago, on a day much like today-sunny, warm, mid-70s--T and I got married.

Tonight, we decided to go to a little restaurant in town.  We parked a few blocks away at the Harvard Club where we had our reception.  T suggests we have a drink at the bar.  Coming up the stairs, we hear noise coming from the Grand Hall.  A wedding.  T stops and peeks in at the wedding, as do I.

We feel like time travelers, back from the future.   Twenty-eight years and we are back to where it began.  Such stories we could tell them about what lies ahead.

I asked my husband what advice he would give them and he says, "Marriage is a marathon.  Take it slowly."

Me?  I'd tell them that marriage is a journey not a destination.

One more thing--if you decide to revisit the place where you got married twenty eight years earlier, don't wear Merrells on your feet just because you have to walk a few blocks....
