fighting among my friends (lyn)

I have two close friends.  Both smart, educated and accomplished. One is a trained economist who once ran the finances of a major country; she is foreign-born (I’ll call her A).  The other (I’ll call her B) is Harvard and Wharton educated, and the first female President of a major company.  Both are Democrats, although one believes in Romney, the other in Obama.  They have never met.

A writes a newsletter and somehow B is on her distribution list.  The most recent one is headlined, The Country Is Better Off.  The article presents arguments for Obama.

Here are the email exchanges that follow (minus the calls I field).

B to A:
Go see Obama's America 2016 and read The Amateur.  Then, we'll talk.

A to B:
Saw the movie and in fact read the book and both made me sick.
I am an economist and I deal with numbers and facts.
The authors "think" they are psychologists and tried to " interpret" facts.  could as well think that I am (a) rebel socialist, full of hate (for) the USA just because I was born and raised in Brazil. It is ridiculous.
If you want to discuss facts and numbers, I am open to it. But if you want to discuss fantasies, interpretation and opinions we have nothing to talk about, not now, not ever.

I love them both, and have told them I won’t get in the middle.  It’s amazing the passions that politics can evoke.
