My mom is usually in bed
by eight. “But I get up at four,” she
always tells us when we tease her about bedtime. After the screening, seven of us head over
for a big dinner at a fabulous restaurant, Scalini Fedeli. We order around 10:45, and the restaurant is
full. On Cape Cod, there are no
restaurants open at this hour. In fact,
most people are home in bed by eleven.
We drink champagne that
another table sends over (friends of Valerie and Abbey), and we all toast to a
wonderful night. Then we order appetizers,
a main course and dessert, all from an exquisite prix fixe menu. Everyone’s food is magnificent, and the
two-mini offerings from the chef in between courses are also sublime.
We don’t get home until
have one. The excitement of the night
energizes all of us.
