I meet Corinne to see an
installation at Columbus Circle. Tatzu Nishi,
a Japanese artist, has created an 810 square foot living room on a scaffold
almost 70 feet up. Its centerpiece is an 1892 statue of Christopher Columbus.
We climb the scaffolding (not as adventurous as it sounds) and enter this apartment. This would be the most perfect place to live, even with Chris taking up so much of the space.
Here's what the statue looked like when it was first built. It provides perspective for just how high this living room sits. Tatzu Nishi's brilliance is in his idea as much as his execution.
After some culture, Corinne and I head over to Sephora; it’s Friend’s and Family until the end of October, which
translates to 20% off everything. We
both take advantage of the savings.
Finally, we head downtown
to the Jil Sander sample sale where everything is 80% off. Corinne gets a gorgeous orange leather
"market" bag and a fabulous black dress.
I do even better. I walk out
empty-handed.
