A
few months ago Good Housekeeping issued
their best of products for 2012. Their
recommendations were based on controlled studies where the testers actually
reported visible differences.
I
wrote about the ones I was interested in last August, and slowly I have been
buying the ones I listed, as the need arose.
When
my mother was here, I heard a lot of, “You are such a pretty girl. But you should wear a little makeup. ” She said this to me while I was wearing
makeup.
Saturday
I went to Bloomingdales Chanel counter and Holly made me up.
Holly
was great. I left the counter feeling
glamorous, and wanting to buy everything.
It was Holly who convinced me otherwise.
“You don’t need our compact (#1) finishing powder if you already have
one; yours will work just as well. And
as for the makeup brush, ours is $45 but you can probably find one cheaper that
is just as good. And, will you really
use it? It’s not worth buying if you
know you won’t use it.” So I left buying
only the two products I came into buy.
Lift
LumiereTeint Fluid ($65)
·
a light to medium coverage makeup
·
got the color 20 Clair, as I am very light-skinned, some may say pale
Ultra
Correction Lift Cream ($150)
·
SPF 15
·
very rich
·
firming day cream for face and neck
·
I’ll use the Le Mer at night
Rationally
I think that if I could bring Holly home with me, she could use the makeup I already have and I would still look as good.
Today I get up and try my two new products. I
love them both. The cream really does
feel luxurious and — dare I say —
lifting. And the makeup? I typically hate makeup and use instead a
tinted moisturizer. But this one is
gorgeous. It lives up to its name of
being luminous, and is light and not cakey at all. It doesn’t feel like I am wearing any makeup,
but my skin looks so much better.
Hate
to admit it, but maybe my mom was right!
